Definition: An abator is a person who eliminates a nuisance or who illegally enters a property before the rightful owner takes possession.

Example 1: A neighbor who constantly plays loud music late at night can be considered a nuisance. If someone takes action to stop the noise, they can be called an abator.

Example 2: In the past, if someone entered a property before the rightful owner took possession, they were called an abator. For instance, if a person died and their heir had not yet taken possession of the property, someone who entered the property without permission was an abator.
