Definition: To advocate, defend, or protect. To acknowledge or admit openly, as to acknowledge a child (advocare filium).

• She decided to advocare for the rights of the homeless population in her city.
• The lawyer advocared for her client in court.
• He advocared for his friend's promotion at work.
• In ancient Rome, a father would advocare filium to publicly acknowledge his son as his own.

These examples illustrate the definition of advocare by showing how someone is advocating, defending, protecting, or acknowledging something or someone.
