An article is a legal rule that is written in a statute, code, or legal document. It explains what people or organizations are supposed to do or not do in a certain situation. Articles are usually agreed upon by the people in charge.

For example, in a contract, an article might explain what each person involved in the contract has to do. It might say what happens if someone doesn't do what they're supposed to do. It might also explain how to solve problems that come up.

Another example is the Constitution of the United States. It has seven articles that explain how the government works. They talk about how the states and the federal government work together. They also say that the Constitution is the most important law in the country.
