BILL CHAMBER

Bill Chamber was a division of the Court of Session in Scots law. It was presided over by the Lord Ordinary on the Bills and had the power to grant certain remedies. However, it was abolished in 1933 and merged into the Court of Session.

One example of a remedy that could be granted in the Bill Chamber was an order for payment of a debt. Another example was an order for the delivery of goods. These remedies were only available in certain cases and were subject to the discretion of the Lord Ordinary on the Bills.

These examples illustrate how the Bill Chamber was a specialized court within the Court of Session that had the power to grant specific remedies. It was an important part of the Scottish legal system for many years, but was eventually merged into the Court of Session to streamline the administration of justice.
