A blood feud is a state of hostility between families or clans, usually resulting from a murder. In this feud, one family seeks to avenge the killing of one of its members by killing a member of the other family. This type of feud is also known as a vendetta.

For example, in some cultures, if a member of one family is killed, it is the duty of their family to seek revenge by killing a member of the other family. This cycle of violence can continue for generations, with each family seeking revenge for past wrongs.

Historically, blood feuds were a common way of resolving disputes in many societies. However, in modern times, they are generally considered illegal and are not an acceptable way of seeking justice.
