Definition: Per capita means dividing something equally among all individuals in a group. For example, if a family has $100 and there are 5 people in the family, they can divide the money equally so that each person gets $20. This is called dividing the money per capita. Another example is when a country wants to know the average income of its citizens. They can add up all the money earned by everyone in the country and divide it by the number of people. This gives them the per capita income. It shows how much money each person in the country makes on average.
