A claim check is a receipt that you get when you leave your property with someone to take care of it. You give the claim check to the person when you come back to get your property.

For example, when you go to a coat check at a restaurant or a theater, you give your coat to the attendant and they give you a claim check. When you're ready to leave, you give the claim check back to the attendant and they give you your coat.
