Definition: Cura is a type of guardianship that protects the interests of young people who are between puberty and the age of 25, or people who are unable to take care of themselves. This type of guardianship was used in ancient Rome. The plural form of cura is curae.
Example: In ancient Rome, if a young person's parents died, a cura would be appointed to take care of them until they were old enough to take care of themselves. This cura would make decisions for the young person and protect their interests. Similarly, if an adult became incapacitated and unable to take care of themselves, a cura would be appointed to make decisions for them and protect their interests.
