The Disaster Relief Act is a federal law that allows the government to assist state and local governments in providing relief to people affected by natural disasters. These disasters can include hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, mudslides, drought, fire, and explosions.

For example, if a hurricane hits a coastal town and causes widespread damage, the Disaster Relief Act allows the federal government to provide resources and funding to help the affected community recover.
