EMIGRANT

An emigrant is a person who leaves their country with the intention of establishing a permanent residence elsewhere. This is different from an immigrant, who is a person who comes into a country to live there permanently.

• A person who leaves their home country to start a new life in another country is an emigrant.
• Someone who moves to another country for work or education and plans to stay there permanently is also an emigrant.
