ESPERA

Espera (es-pə-rə), n. A specific time period set by law or court order during which certain actions must be completed, such as paying a debt.

• John has a debt of $500 to pay to his creditor within a 30-day espera.
• The court granted a 60-day espera for the defendant to file an appeal.

These examples illustrate how an espera is a legally mandated time period for completing certain actions. In the first example, John must pay his debt within 30 days or face legal consequences. In the second example, the defendant has 60 days to file an appeal or forfeit their right to do so.
