Expiration

Expiration is when something comes to an end or reaches its closing date. It can refer to the end of a contract, agreement, or policy.

• The expiration date on the milk carton is tomorrow, so we need to drink it before then.
• My driver's license is about to reach its expiration date, so I need to renew it soon.
• The lease on our apartment has an expiration date of June 30th, so we need to move out by then.

These examples illustrate how expiration refers to the end of something. In the first example, the milk will no longer be good to drink after the expiration date. In the second example, the driver's license will no longer be valid after the expiration date. In the third example, the lease will no longer be in effect after the expiration date.
