Faeder-feoh is a historical term that refers to the property that a wife brought to her husband at the time of their marriage. If the husband died, the property would go back to the widow if the heir of the deceased husband refused to give consent to her second marriage. However, if the widow returned to her family, the property would go back to them.

For example, if a woman brought a piece of land to her husband at the time of their marriage, it would be considered faeder-feoh. If her husband died and their son refused to give consent to her second marriage, the land would go back to the widow. On the other hand, if the widow decided to return to her family, the land would go back to them.

Another example could be a valuable piece of jewelry that a woman brought to her husband. If the husband died and their daughter refused to give consent to her mother's second marriage, the jewelry would go back to the widow. However, if the widow decided to return to her family, the jewelry would go back to them.
