A family council is a meeting where family members come together to discuss important matters and make decisions. It can be used in two different ways:

2. In a family setting, a family council is a group of relatives who come together to advise a minor on their affairs and help manage their property.

For example, if a parent passes away and leaves behind a minor child, the family may hold a family council to decide who will become the child's legal guardian and how the child's inheritance will be managed. In this way, the family council serves as a way to ensure that the child's best interests are taken into account and that important decisions are made with input from all relevant family members.
