An identikit is a tool used by police to create a composite image of a suspect based on descriptions given by witnesses. It is a collection of pictures of facial features that can be combined to create a likeness of the suspect.

For example, if a witness saw a suspect commit a crime and provided a description of their facial features, the police could use an identikit to create a picture of what the suspect might look like. The identikit might include pictures of different noses, eyes, mouths, and other facial features that can be combined to create a composite image.

In Great Britain, the resulting image is called a photofit. This term is often used interchangeably with identikit, but it specifically refers to the composite image created using this tool.
