IN TERMINIS

In terminis (in tər-mə-nəs). [Law Latin] Historically, it means "in express terms" or "expressly."

• The contract stated in terminis that the payment was due on the 15th of every month.
• The judge's ruling was in terminis and left no room for interpretation.

These examples illustrate how in terminis is used to indicate that something is explicitly stated or expressed. In the first example, the payment due date is clearly and specifically stated in the contract.
