Cyberpiracy is the act of registering a well-known name or mark (or one that is confusingly similar) as a website's domain name, usually for the purpose of deriving revenue. This can include cybersquatting or using a similar name or mark to mislead consumers.

If someone were to register the domain name "McDonalds.net" and use it to sell fast food products, this would be an example of cyberpiracy. This could mislead consumers into thinking they are buying from the real McDonald's company, and could harm the reputation of the real company.
