Jus Possessionis

Jus possessionis is a Latin term used in civil law to refer to a right that comes from possession or ownership. It is the right of a possessor to continue holding onto something they possess.

This is different from jus proprietatis, which is the right of ownership.

For example, if you are renting an apartment, you have the right to continue living in the apartment as long as you pay rent and follow the rules of the lease. This is your jus possessionis right.

Another example is if you find a lost item on the street and pick it up. You have the right to keep the item as long as you make a reasonable effort to find the owner. This is also an example of jus possessionis.
