Definition: Lagend (pronounced lag-uhnd) is another word for lagan, which refers to goods that have been abandoned at sea but are attached to a buoy so that they can be recovered. It can also refer to wreckage or cargo that is lying on the seabed.

Examples:

• A fishing net that has come loose and is floating in the ocean is considered flotsam.
• If that same fishing net were to become attached to a buoy, it would then be considered lagan or lagend.
• If a ship sinks and its cargo falls to the bottom of the ocean, that cargo would be considered lagend.

The examples illustrate how lagend is used to describe goods or wreckage that are found in the ocean. If the items are attached to a buoy, they are considered lagan or lagend and can be recovered. If they are lying on the seabed, they are simply referred to as lagend.
