1. Equal in quantity, quality, or degree; corresponding exactly. For example, "I have two like copies of this book."
2. Similar or substantially similar in character. For example, "She has a personality like her mother."

The word "like" is used to describe things that are the same or very similar. For instance, if you have two copies of a book that look exactly the same, you can say they are "like copies." Similarly, if someone has a personality that is very similar to their mother's, you can say they have a personality "like" their mother's.
