Definition: Manhood refers to a male person's majority or adulthood. It can also refer to a historical ceremony where a vassal pays homage to their lord, known as homagium.

For example, in medieval times, a vassal would kneel before their lord, ungirt and uncovered, and hold up their hands between those of the lord. They would then profess to become the lord's man, pledging their loyalty and receiving a kiss from their lord. This ceremony was called homagium or manhood.

Another example of manhood is when a young man turns 18 years old, which is considered the age of majority in many countries. At this age, he is legally recognized as an adult and is expected to take on more responsibilities.

These examples illustrate how manhood can refer to both a historical ceremony and a legal status of adulthood.
