Misreading is a type of fraud where a person intentionally reads the contents of a document incorrectly to someone who cannot read or see it, in order to trick them into signing it.

For example, a person might misread a contract to an elderly person who cannot see well, making it seem like they are signing up for a free service when in reality they are agreeing to pay a large fee. Another example could be misreading a legal document to an illiterate person, making it seem like they are signing something harmless when in reality they are giving away their property.

These examples illustrate how misreading can be used to deceive vulnerable people into signing documents that they do not fully understand.
