A motion to dissolve interference is a request made by the senior party in a patent dispute to dismiss challenges to their priority as the first inventor.

For example, if two inventors file for a patent on the same invention, an interference may be declared by the patent office to determine who was the first to invent. The senior party, or the inventor who can prove they were the first to invent, may file a motion to dissolve interference to dismiss the challenges made by the other party.

This motion is important because it can determine who is granted the patent for the invention.
