NAUTICAL ASSESSOR

A nautical assessor is a person who is knowledgeable about maritime matters and is called upon in an admiralty case to provide expert advice to the judge.

For example, if a ship owner is involved in a legal dispute over damage to their vessel, a nautical assessor may be called upon to assess the extent of the damage and provide an opinion on the cause of the damage.
