An oppressor is someone who uses their power in a harmful or wrongful way. This person may be a public official who acts outside of their authority, causing harm to others. Oppressors commit acts of oppression, which can take many forms.

• A police officer who uses excessive force against a suspect
• A landlord who refuses to make necessary repairs to a tenant's home
• A boss who discriminates against employees based on their race or gender

These examples illustrate how an oppressor can use their power to harm others. In each case, the person in power is acting unlawfully or wrongfully, causing harm to those who are less powerful. Oppressors may use their power to intimidate, control, or exploit others, often with little regard for the consequences.
