Originator

An originator is the person or entity that starts a transfer of funds according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Article 4A.

UCC § 4A-104(c) defines the originator as the entity that initiates a funds transfersubject to UCC article 4A.

1. A company that sends money to its employees' bank accounts is the originator of the funds transfer.

2. A person who sets up a recurring payment to their landlord is the originator of the funds transfer.

These examples illustrate that the originator is the entity that starts the transfer of funds. In the first example, the company initiates the transfer of funds to its employees' bank accounts. In the second example, the person sets up a recurring payment, which starts the transfer of funds to their landlord.
