Definition: A permittee is someone who has been given permission to do something.

For example, if a construction company wants to build a new building, they must first obtain a permit from the city. The construction company would be the permittee because they have been given permission to build the new building.

Another example would be if a person wants to hold a large event in a public park, they would need to obtain a permit from the city. The person would be the permittee because they have been given permission to hold the event.

A subpermittee is a person who receives permission to act from a permittee. For example, if the construction company hires a subcontractor to do some of the work on the new building, the subcontractor would be a subpermittee because they have received permission to work on the project from the permittee (the construction company).
