Prostitution is when someone agrees to have sex with another person in exchange for money. It is illegal in most parts of the United States, except for some rural areas in Nevada.

Examples of sexual conduct that can be considered prostitution include:

• Sexual intercourse
• Deviate sexual intercourse
• Masturbation
• Lewd acts where the genitals, buttocks, or female breasts of either the prostitute or the customer come in contact with some part of the body for sexual arousal or gratification of the customer or of the prostitute

For example, if someone pays another person to have sex with them, that is prostitution. If someone pays another person to perform sexual acts on themselves, that is also prostitution. Even if there is no actual sex involved, if there is sexual contact for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification, it can still be considered prostitution.
