Definition of revendication

Definition: Revendication is the act of formally claiming or demanding the recovery or return of something that was taken or wrongfully held by someone else. In civil law, it refers to an action taken to recover real rights and possession of property that is being held by another person.

Examples:

After her car was stolen, Jane filed a revendication with the police to try and get it back.
The company's revendication of their trademark was successful, and they were able to stop the counterfeit products from being sold.

These examples illustrate how revendication is used to reclaim something that was taken or wrongfully held. In the first example, Jane is trying to recover her stolen car by making a formal claim to the police. In the second example, the company is using revendication to protect their intellectual property rights and prevent others from profiting off of their brand.

Definition: Revendication is when someone formally demands or claims back something that they believe belongs to them. It can also refer to a legal action taken to recover property that is being wrongfully held by someone else. This is similar to the common-law replevin.

(Note: Replevin is a legal action to recover personal property that has been wrongfully taken or detained by someone else.)

Example: If someone takes your bike without permission, you can make a revendication to get it back. You can also make a revendication if someone is living in a house that you own but they are not paying rent or following the rules.
