A session is a scheduled meeting of a government body, such as a court or legislature. During a court session, the court is actively hearing a case. For example, if a court is in session and does not respond to a request within 10 days, the request is considered denied. During a legislative session, lawmakers are actively discussing and voting on proposed laws. For example, the U.S. Constitution states that neither House of Congress can adjourn for more than three days without the consent of the other during a session.
