Definition: The position of a person or group opposing another. It can also refer to either of two parties in a transaction or dispute. In a description of more or less rectangularly shaped land, either of the two long boundary lines.

• "The law is on our side," said the lawyer representing the plaintiff.
• During the debate, each side presented their arguments.
• The property line on the east side of the lot was marked with a fence.
