The SODDI defense, also known as the "some-other-dude-did-it" defense, is a slang term used in criminal cases. It refers to a claim made by a defendant that someone else committed the crime they are being accused of, but they cannot identify the third party.

During a robbery trial, the defendant claimed that he was not the one who committed the crime. He said that he saw another person running away from the scene and assumed that person was the real culprit. This is an example of the SODDI defense.

Another example could be a hit-and-run case where the defendant claims that they were not driving the car at the time of the accident, but rather someone else was driving their car without their knowledge.

These examples illustrate how the SODDI defense is used by defendants to shift the blame onto someone else, without providing any concrete evidence to support their claim.
