Supra

A Latin term meaning "above". It is often used in legal writing to refer the reader to a portion that comes in an earlier part of the document, case, or book. The opposite of infra.

According to the case of Smith v. Jones, supra, the defendant was found guilty of fraud.

In the supra section, we discussed the importance of obtaining a warrant before conducting a search.

The term "supra" is used in legal writing to refer to a previous section or case that has already been discussed. In the first example, "supra" refers to the case of Smith v. Jones, which was previously mentioned in the document. In the second example, "supra" refers to a section that was discussed earlier in the same document. By using "supra", the writer is able to refer the reader back to a previous point without having to repeat the information.
