SUPRA RIPARIAN

Supra riparian means higher up the stream. It is used to describe the estate, rights, and duties of a riparian owner whose land is situated nearer the source of a stream than the land it is compared to.

For example, if there are two riparian owners along a stream, and one owner's land is closer to the source of the stream, that owner would be considered supra riparian. This means they have certain rights and responsibilities that differ from the other riparian owner.

Another example would be if a landowner has a water source on their property that feeds into a stream. If that water source is closer to the source of the stream than their neighbor's water source, they would be considered supra riparian.
