Wrongful process is a term used to describe the improper and illegal use of a court process to achieve an outcome that is either unlawful or beyond the scope of the process. It is also known as abuse of process.

For example, if someone files a lawsuit against another person with the intention of harassing them or causing them harm, rather than seeking justice, it would be considered wrongful process. Similarly, if a police officer arrests someone without probable cause or a warrant, it would be considered wrongful process.

Wrongful process can result in legal liability for the person who initiated the process. The victim of wrongful process may be entitled to compensation for any harm caused by the abuse of process.
