The BSD license is a type of open-source license that allows users to incorporate the source code into proprietary products as long as they don't use the names of the original creator or contributors to endorse or promote the products without permission.

For example, if a company uses code under the BSD license to create a new software product, they can sell that product without having to make it open-source. However, they cannot use the names of the original creators or contributors to promote the product without permission.
