A BSD-style license is a type of open-source license that allows users to incorporate the source code into proprietary products as long as they do not use the names of the original creator or contributors to endorse or promote the products without permission.

For example, if a company uses a piece of software that is licensed under a BSD-style license, they can modify the software and use it in their own product without having to make their product open-source. However, they cannot use the names of the original creators or contributors to promote their product without permission.
