The Bureau of Reclamation is a department within the U.S. Department of the Interior. Its main function is to construct dams in 17 western states. Some of the most famous dams built by the Bureau of Reclamation include Hoover Dam and Grand Coulee Dam.

After the construction of these dams, the Bureau of Reclamation is responsible for selling hydroelectric power generated from these dams and water from the reservoirs.

For example, the Hoover Dam generates electricity that is sold to customers in Nevada, Arizona, and California. The water from the reservoir is also used for irrigation and drinking water in these states.
