COTORTFEASOR

A cotortfeasor is someone who, along with another person, has committed a tort. A tort is a wrongful act that causes harm to someone else, such as negligence or intentional harm.

For example, if two people conspire to commit fraud and one person carries out the fraudulent act while the other person helps plan it, they are both cotortfeasors. Another example would be if two people are driving recklessly and cause an accident, they are both cotortfeasors.

These examples illustrate how two or more people can work together to commit a wrongful act that causes harm to someone else. Even if one person is the primary actor, the other person who helped plan or facilitate the act is also responsible for the harm caused.
