Definition of Council on Environmental Quality
The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is a group of three members in the Executive Office of the President who are responsible for developing and recommending national policy on environmental quality.
The CEQ was created by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. The President appoints the members with the advice and consent of the Senate.
An example of the CEQ's work is developing policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. Another example is recommending ways to protect endangered species and their habitats.
The CEQ's work is important because it helps ensure that the United States is taking steps to protect the environment and promote sustainability.

Council on Environmental Quality: A group of three people who work for the President and help make decisions about how to take care of the environment. They were created in 1969 and their job is to come up with ideas and suggestions for how to make sure our environment stays healthy. The President picks the members and the Senate has to agree. We call them CEQ for short.
