A curia was a gathering of people in ancient Rome. It could refer to a group of 30 divisions or tribes, a building where the Roman Senate met, or a royal court. In medieval times, it became a common word to describe groups of people who advised kings or princes. The term also referred to the papal court and its officials. Essentially, a curia was a group of people who came together to make decisions or give advice.
