The doctor-patient relationship refers to the association between a medical provider and a patient who is being diagnosed or treated. This relationship imposes a duty on the doctor to ensure that the patient gives informed consent for treatment.

For example, when a patient visits a doctor, they trust the doctor to provide them with the best possible care and treatment. The doctor, in turn, has a responsibility to act in the patient's best interest and provide them with accurate information about their condition and treatment options. This relationship is based on trust and mutual respect.

Other examples of professional relationships include a lawyer-client relationship, where a client relies on a lawyer's specialized training to provide legal advice and representation, and an employer-employee relationship, where an employee is employed to perform services in the affairs of another, who in turn has the right to control the person's physical conduct in the course of that service.
