The Law Society of Scotland is a professional organization that was established by statute in 1949. Its main purpose is to govern the admission, conduct, and practice of solicitors who are enrolled to practice in Scotland.

For example, if a person wants to become a solicitor in Scotland, they must first be admitted to the Law Society of Scotland. Once admitted, they must follow the rules and regulationsset out by the society in order to maintain their membership and continue practicing law.

The Law Society of Scotland also provides support and guidance to its members, as well as promoting the interests of the legal profession in Scotland.
