Parole Board

A Parole Board is a group of government officials who decide if a prisoner can be released from prison before their sentence is finished.

• John was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but after serving 5 years, he went in front of the Parole Board to see if he could be released early.
• The Parole Board reviewed Sarah's case and decided that she was not ready to be released yet.

The examples show how the Parole Board is responsible for making decisions about whether a prisoner can be released early or not. In the first example, John was able to go in front of the Parole Board after serving half of his sentence. In the second example, Sarah was not deemed ready for release by the Parole Board.
