Receiptor

A receiptor is a person who receives property seized by a sheriff in garnishment and agrees to return the property when demanded or executed.

For example, if a person owes money to a creditor and fails to pay, the creditor can obtain a court order to seize the debtor's property. The sheriff will then take possession of the property and give it to the receiptor, who agrees to hold onto it until the creditor demands its return or the court orders its sale.

Another example is when a landlord seizes a tenant's property for non-payment of rent. The landlord can give the property to a receiptor, who will hold onto it until the tenant pays the rent or the court orders its sale.

These examples illustrate how a receiptor acts as a temporary custodian of seized property and is responsible for returning it to the rightful owner when demanded or executed.
