Successive polygamy is a type of polygamy where a person has more than one spouse during their lifetime, but not at the same time. This is also known as sequential marriage or serial polygamy.

For example, if a person gets married, then gets divorced or their spouse dies, and then gets married again, this is successive polygamy. It is different from simultaneous polygamy, where a person has multiple spouses at the same time.

Successive polygamy is not legal in many countries, including the United States. However, it is still practiced in some cultures and religions.
