The Winchester, Statute of was a law passed during the reign of Edward I in the 13th year. It required every man to have armor to keep the peace, regulated the offices of high and petty constables, organized the police, and enforced old Saxon police laws.

For example, if a man did not have armor, he could be fined or punished. The statute also established the roles and responsibilities of constables, who were responsible for maintaining law and order in their communities.

The Winchester, Statute of was repealed in 1827 by the Criminal Statutes (England) Repeal Act. This means that the law was no longer in effect and did not apply to modern times.
