Definition: Disjunctim means separately or severally in Roman law. For example, if a condition is imposed disjunctim, it would bind the persons separately instead of jointly. This means that each person would be responsible for fulfilling the condition on their own, rather than working together. Example: Two friends borrow money from a bank disjunctim. This means that each friend is responsible for paying back their own portion of the loan, rather than sharing the responsibility. If one friend fails to pay back their portion, the other friend is not responsible for it. In this example, the term disjunctim is used to show that the friends are responsible for paying back the loan separately, rather than jointly.
