Definition: Districting is the process of creating voting districts by drawing lines or establishing boundaries between geographic areas.

For example, a city may be divided into different districts for city council elections. Each district would have its own representative on the council, and voters in that district would only be able to vote for candidates running in their district.

Districting is important because it helps ensure that each area has equal representation in government. However, it can also be used for political gain through a process called gerrymandering, where district lines are drawn in a way that benefits one political party over another.
