Electioneering is the process of convincing voters to vote for or against a particular candidate, party, or issue. This can include displaying campaign posters or signs, distributing campaign materials, or soliciting votes for or against any person or political party or position.

• In Missouri, it is illegal to electioneer "on election day inside the building in which a polling place is located or within twenty-five feet of the building's outer door closest to the polling place."
• In New York, it is illegal to electioneer "within the polling place or within one hundred feet [of the polling place]."

These examples illustrate how electioneering can be restricted by law in certain areas. The purpose of these restrictions is to ensure that voters are not influenced by campaign materials or solicitation while they are voting.
